Approximately 2 milyon m³ wastewater treatment sludge stored in sludge storage basins constructed on 131 ha area since the beginning of 2000 will be stabilized with lime by applying deep-mixing process and then the storage basins will be closed and rehabilitated.

The existing WWTP located within the border of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality and operating since 2010 with capacity of 21,600 m³/day will be upgraded to MBBR (moving bed bioreactor) and its capacity will be increased to 60,000 m³/day.

A feasibility study, preliminary design and technical specifications are prepared for upgrading the existing anaerobic sludge digesters and replacing the existing belt sludge dryers by thin film dryers with capacity of 22,000 m³/day of Cigli Wastewater Treatment Plant having capacity of 821,000 m³/day serving Izmir city center.

The existing treatment units of Erdek-Ocaklar SBR Plant will be demolished and a new nutrient removal wastewater treatment plant composed of MBR (membrane bioreactor) with average capacity 4,590 m³/day will be constructed.
